Largest Eye Contact Experiment Comes to Tucson This Thursday!
It was a common sense rule when we were growing up – DON’T STARE!
And as adults the rule still holds firm…
Unless you are attending the “Largest Eye Contact Experiment” which takes place around the world in various cities…
And it has has arrived in the city of Tucson!
On October 15th, 2015, over 45,000 people across 50 cities will be sitting in public spaces to share eye contact with one another and break down some of the barriers we seem to have built around ourselves….
Tucsonans will gather in front of the Main Library at downtown Jacome Plaza between the hours of 3:30-5:30p.
Phoenicians will father at the Phoenix Civic Space Park downtown between the hours of 3:30-5:30p.
Eye Contact Facilitators will have set up stations all around the plaza where people can sit with each other and… well…
Stare at each other!
Individuals will gaze into each other’s eyes for one minute without doing anything else…
Some of you are reading this right now and the very thought is terribly uncomfortable…even terrifying!
What with all the staring we do at our phones and computers all day, the leading question for this event is simple:
Where has human connection gone?
This is the question that The Liberators International social movement is hoping to answer and resolve through the world’s biggest eye contact experiment…
Local organizers are encouraged to film their version of the experiment and to send their footage to The Liberators International for use in a compilation video that is sure to make it to your facebook page in no time!
This experiment has often evoked much emotion from the participants across the globe…
Take a look at how the event works:
Participating cities include: Buenos Aires, Melbourne, Montreal, Toronto, Prague, London, Helsinki, Paris, Hong Kong, Milan, Ibiza, Boston, and Los Angeles, amongst dozens of others…
