Couple Sues Snapchat for Car Accident
The new social media app Snapchat is all the hype right now… It’s an app that allows you to snap a photo or video what you’re doing and send it to friends. The content then disappears after 24 hours… whoa… magic!
Videos and photos can also be “filtered” to make the photo more appealing, fun, or geotag whatever it is you may be doing. In addition to these filters, there’s a “speed filter” that allows you to post the speed of the activity you were doing when the photo was taken.
IE: Swinging in a hammock might show 2.7mph…
A Georgia couple “snapped” them driving at a high speed of 107 mph when the speed limit was only 45 mph resulting in a serious accident.
The woman who caused the accident and her attorney are claiming that Snapchat promotes dangerous driving by having the “speed filter” on their app.
According to Snapchat it warns the user before applying the filter for the first time with a pop up that states “please do not snap and drive”.
