Distracted driving can be deadly, for drivers may momentarily forget where they are, becoming unaware of traffic signals or road signs. It is the responsibility of the driver to remain as alert as possible when driving.
Two people were killed in a traffic accident in Glendale late Sunday night. Details surrounding the crash have not been released yet.
ABC 15 in Phoenix reported on its website on Monday that, according to law enforcement officials, the fatal crash happened on Sunday, April 5th at approximately 10:30 p.m. Investigators say that the crash involved two vehicles and occurred near the intersection of Bethany Home Road and 55th Avenue.
Police investigators believe that a Ford Mustang had been traveling westbound on Bethany Home Road and blew through a stoplight at the intersection and t-boned a Honda minivan that was on 55th Avenue.
Two people inside the minivan were killed in the crash. Authorities have identified the victims as 39-year-old Liliana Delgado and her 18-year-old daughter, Rosemary Marin. Both women were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Mustang also suffered severe, non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. They were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officials have withheld their identity at this time.
The accident is still currently under investigation. So far, detectives working on the case are not sure whether speed, possible impairment, or both may have played a role in the fatal crash.
