Most people know that if you get into an accident of any kind, it’s your responsibility to stay at the scene until released by law enforcement officers. To just leave the scene is illegal, and there can be even more severe consequences if you drive away without contacting emergency responders if necessary, waiting for police, or exchanging insurance information.
The desire to flee may have been what was what caused a driver to flee the scene of a hit-and-run crash in Pima County, leaving one person dead in the early morning hours on Friday, May 22nd.
According to the article appearing on the Tucson.com website, the fatal crash happened near the intersection of Irvington Road and Cardinal Avenue at approximately 1:00 a.m. when the Pima County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a man lying in the roadway.
Deputies responded to the scene and found a male pedestrian with “obvious signs of trauma for being hit by a vehicle.” The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have withheld his identity pending notification of family members.
