Police have identified the suspected DUI driver as 37-year-old Erick D. Saravia Rojas, who was injured in the collision. Because of injuries he suffered in the crash, police were unable to perform field sobriety tests on him. Sgt. Fortune indicated, however, that Saravia Rojas did show signs of impairment, and investigating officers at the scene were able to test his blood-alcohol level.
Saravia Rojas was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, and he was later booked into jail.
Court documents indicate that Saravia Rojas suffered injuries to one of his knees at the time of the crash. Police were informed that he had also suffered an injury to his hand, which required surgery.
Saravia Rojas is currently facing charges of DUI and one count of aggravated assault. He is due to appear in court on May 14th.
