Fiery Wrong Way Crashes Results In The Death Of A Woman

When driving in an unfamiliar location, it’s common for otherwise good drivers to make mistakes and cause accidents. Maybe you make a wrong turn somewhere or, worst case scenario, make a terrible mistake in the dark. That seems to be what might have happened after a wrong way driver was killed in a crash that happened near Boulder City, Nevada on US Highway 93 near Interstate 11 on Tuesday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on the accident which involved a UPS truck and a U-Haul van happened at approximately 3:00 a.m. in the southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 93, a short distance from the Arizona border.

A spokesperson for the Nevada Highway Patrol, Tony Illia said in a statement to the paper that the woman driving the U –Haul had been traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when her vehicle collided with the UPS delivery truck and then burst into flame.

The woman’s identity has not been released pending identification by the Clark County Coroner’s Office and notification of her family. The driver of the UPS truck was injured in the fiery crash and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released his current condition, but he is expected to survive.

Illia also indicated dispatchers had received reports that the woman had been driving the U-Haul vehicle erratically before the crash. The Nevada Highway Patrol indicated in a tweet that the accident is still currently under investigation.
