In the United States, most automobile accidents happen at an intersection. Such accidents end in a high number of severe injuries and tragic deaths. A recent report released by the insurance industry website, autoinsurance.org outlining fatal intersections in the country lists the Arizona cities of Glendale and Phoenix of being the top two cities in the U.S. cities that have accidents in intersections which resulted in one or more fatalities.
Patch.com reported on its website that the report put out is based on the latest data obtained from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) for 2011 -2017.
Within the specified timeline, Glendale leads the number of intersection fatalities at 218, followed by Phoenix with 197 intersection fatalities. Also in the report is Tucson at number 17 with 83 and Paradise Valley at number 22 with 80 intersection fatalities.

According to the report, Maricopa County is ranked the second deadliest in the United States with 1,134 intersection deaths from 2011 – 2017. This figure was surpassed only By Los Angeles County, California, with 1,891 intersection deaths in that same period of time. The third highest position was held by Miami, Florida’s Dade County with 1,009 intersection fatalities.
