Ford Issues Recall For Vans And Pickup Trucks

Earlier this month, Ford issued recalls for 1.3 million of its vehicles made in the last 10 years.

According to Fox 10 in Phoenix, this latest recall covers Ford’s Econoline vans and pickup trucks, Explorer SUV’sand F-150 pickup trucks for model years 2011 to 2017. Ford said in a statement that it would contact consumers who had purchased the recalled pickup trucks and SUV’s.

The issue under recall is that owners have reported problems with steering control. This widespread problem is due to a malfunction of the toe links within the rear suspension system of the vehicles.

Ford said that its dealerships would replace the toe links and realign the rear suspension of the recalled vehicles at no cost to the consumer.

Ford’s Explorer vehicle made in Chicago, Illinois make up 1.2 million of the recalled vehicles and have been sold throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

Also under a separate recall is Ford’s 2013 F-150 pickup trucks with 6-speed automatic transmissions. This model is being recalled to reprogram the computer that controls the vehicle’s powertrain control module that can prevent a downshift and remove a malfunction indicator light that some owners have reported in the model.

So far, there has only been one non-injury accident involving one of the vehicles under recall.
