Two people lost their lives on Tuesday, September 24th in a head-on collision in Yavapai County near Skull Valley just 20 miles west of Prescott.
The Arizona Family website reported on its website that the crash happened on Iron Springs Road at approximately 3:00 p.m. when a white 014 Chevrolet 3500 pickup truck heading northbound on Iron Springs collided with a white 1989 Toyota Camry 4-door sedan that was heading southbound.
The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that deputies along with and emergency crew from the Skull Valley Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of the crash between mile markers 14 and 15.
The two occupants of the Toyota Camry sedan were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not released their identities pending notification of family members. At the time of the report, the sheriff’s office said that there had been some difficulties in locating the families.
The driver and a passenger who were in the Chevrolet pickup truck were taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released any information about their identities or current condition.
Eyewitnesses to the crash told sheriff’s deputies that the Chevrolet truck crossed into the southbound lanes and collided with the Toyota. The crash is still currently under investigation by the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
