Almost every state in the country has reported a marked increase in the number of road rage in recent years. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 60% of drivers report either having either witnessed or been targeted by another driver who was driving aggressively. The federal agency estimates that at many of these incidents of road rage begins because one driver believes they were cut off in traffic.
The AZ Family reports that police in Mesa is seeking the public’s help in locating a vehicle and driver that they believe was involved in a fatal road rage incident earlier this month.
The incident happened on Saturday, January 11th, near the intersection of Alma School Road and 8th Avenue within Mesa city limits. Police say that the unidentified victim in the crash got out of their vehicle to confront the driver of a white pickup truck when they were run over.
Eyewitnesses at the scene told police that the driver of the pickup headed northbound on Alma School road after hitting the man.
Authorities have not released the name of the victim. He is described as being in his early 20s. Mesa Police Department homicide detectives are looking for a white, 2003 Dodge quad-cab pickup truck. A photograph taken of the suspect vehicle shows a license plate of CK14318.
