Police Arrest Man For Homicide After Road Rage Incident

A man has been arrested in connection to a homicide over a mysterious altercation at a stoplight that happened in March of this year.

Fox 6 Now in Phoenix reports that the Phoenix Police Department has arrested Nicholas Elliot, 30, on suspicion of murder and other charges which resulted in the death of Alex Mixon, 26. 

On March 1st, Mixon had been driving westbound on Thunderbird Road near the intersection of Thunderbird and 30th Street when the pickup truck he was driving suddenly crossed over the centerline into the eastbound lanes, struck a utility pole, crashed into a retaining wall, and finally came to a stop.

Emergency crews arrived on the scene and rushed Mixon to an area hospital for treatment. Doctors discovered that Mixon was not only suffering from injuries he sustained in the crash but from a gunshot wound. Mixon later died at the hospital.

Police homicide detectives interviewed witnesses and were led to Elliot, who is the main suspect in the case.  After his arrest, Elliot bragged to detectives about what he had done. Police believe that no words were exchanged before the shooting, but Elliot shot Mixon because the victim had merely looked at him while both vehicles were stopped at a red light.

A spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department, Sgt. Tommy Thompson said in a statement that Elliot was arrested on Thursday, September 26th. Elliot is being held on the charges of first-degree murder, aggravated assault, misconduct involving a firearm and drug-related charges.
