Head-On Collision Sends Man To Hospital With Life-Threatening Injuries

According to the NHTSA, the majority of collisions that occur annually in the United States are rear-end crashes or 29% of all crashes. Front end or head-on collisions only account for a small number of collisions every year amount to just 2.3% with only 10.1% of these ending in fatalities. Even with such low numbers, the seriousness of a front end or head-on collision cannot be overstated. Serious injuries and fatalities are often the end result when two vehicles collide head-on.

Recently in West Valley City, Utah, a man was left critically injured in a crash in December. ABC 4 News in Salt Lake City reported that the accident occurred at approximately 8: 00 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Bangerter Highway.

The spokesperson for the West Valley City Police Sgt. Jason Johnson said in a statement that one vehicle that was involved in the head-on collision had been traveling southbound but then veered suddenly into the northbound lanes where it collided with a vehicle that was traveling northbound.

Initially, authorities did not determine which of the two vehicles involved in the crash was traveling which direction. A woman who was driving a white minivan sustained minor injuries in the accident while a man who had been driving a much smaller passenger vehicle was left in critical condition.

The man was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, Utah with life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition at the time of the report.

So far no further updates have been reported regarding the crash.
