Ford Recalls Vehicles Due To Defects In Suspension System

On Thursday, February 13th, Ford Motor Company announced that it is recalling more than 240,000 cars and SUVs for defects in the suspension system.

Fox 10 News in Phoenix reports that the Ford vehicles under recall include the company’s Flex, Lincoln MKT, Taurus SHO, and Taurus police cruisers for model years 2013 through 2018.

Most of the affected vehicles have been sold in the United States, while others have reached overseas markets.

The company said the defect in a part within the vehicles’ suspension system could potentially fracture and increase the risk of a crash. If the suspension moves a lot while being driven, the toe links, which keep the rear suspension on a vehicle stable and tires on the road, can break.

The company said in a statement that while no injuries or accidents have been reported as a result of the defective part, that the recall is precautionary.  Ford will begin contacting vehicle owners by mail starting March 2nd.

Owners of the affected vehicles are being encouraged to take their cars to the dealership, where the toe links on both sides of the vehicle will be replaced with stronger parts.

This is not the first recall of Ford vehicles for a similar toe link problem. In June of 2019, Ford recalled more than 1.2 million vehicles which included models listed above and Explorer SUVs, F-150s and Econoline trucks for model years 2010 to 2017.
