Most parents realize that their children are keen observers. It is natural for them to want to emulate the things they hear their parents say and do the things their parents do. As they get older, however, they realize that the things they witness adults doing aren’t always the best of even safest thing to do.
ABC 15 in Phoenix reports that a 10-year-old Glendale girl recorded her mother driving while under the influence of alcohol while she and her siblings were in the car with her. The girl then called 911 and sent that video footage to police. Some are calling the little girl a hero.

A spokesperson with the Glendale Police Department said that 911 dispatch received the tip and saw the three children, all under the age of 15, in the vehicle yelling at their mother to stop before she got into an accident. Officers were able to locate and stop the girls’ mother, Stephanie Lynn Davis, 31, near the intersection of Glendale and 75th Avenues on the afternoon of Saturday, September 7th.
Court documents indicate that Davis admitted to officers that she had been drinking wine earlier that day. Police officers detected a strong scent of alcohol could be detected from Davis herself as well as her vehicle. She also demonstrated other signs of intoxication such as stumbling, bloodshot eyes, slurred speech. Officers say that at one point, Davis fell out of a police cruiser and had to be assisted by officers.
She was arrested and taken into custody. Davis also refused field sobriety testing. A warrant was issued for authorities to obtain a blood sample.
Davis is currently facing the charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated DUI in a vehicle with minor occupants. She was released on her own recognizance and is due to appear in court later this month on September 23rd.
