Riding a motorcycle can be a fantastic way to enjoy our beautiful Arizona roads and highways. Being out in the open air can make you feel more connected to the sights and experiences around you. However, motorcyclists are also exposed to the hazards of the road. It’s essential to wear protective gear such as helmets, whenever possible.
ABC 15 in Phoenix reports that two motorcyclists were not wearing protective gear when they collided with another vehicle Saturday evening in Chandler, and they are now in serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
Authorities say that the 2-vehicle crash happened just after 5:00 P.M. near the intersection of McQueen and Warner Roads when the driver of a passenger vehicle made a left turn in front of the motorcycle. The driver told law enforcement officers that they did not see the bike.
The collision with the car caused both the driver of the motorcycle and a passenger to be thrown from their bike and onto the roadway.
Officers with the Chandler Police Department and paramedics arrived at the scene of the crash and rushed both motorcyclists to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released any further information about their identities or current condition.
The driver of the car that hit them was uninjured in the crash.
The accident is still under investigation. Police have not ruled out possible impairment in the crash.
