After childbirth, one of the most significant priorities of a parent is protecting their child. As such, homes are baby-proofed, and special care is taken when putting the newborn to sleep. Adapting daily life with child-proof and baby-proof tools can mean the difference between life or death.
On Wednesday, June 25th, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a recall of thousands of baby strollers over safety concerns.
ABC15 in Phoenix reports that the federal agency announced that three models of strollers from the manufacturer, GoPlus, DBA Costway of Fontana, California were being recalled. The strollers were found to violate the Federal Standard for Carriages.
In the press release, the CPSC indicated that a child’s body could potentially pass through an opening between the stroller tray and might risk entrapment or strangulation.
So far, no injuries or deaths have been reported in connection to the Costway strollers.
The recalled models are as follows:
BB4476 – Infant Double Stroller – Red, Gray and Black
BB4613 – Infant Double Stroller – Black
BB$690 – Face to Face Double Stroller – Gray
The recall affects an estimated 16,000 strollers that were sold either on Costway’s website or on Amazon.com between May 2016 and December 2019.
Consumers who have any of the above models are asked to contact Costway for return and a full refund, including taxes and shipping costs. They may reach the company calling them toll-free at (844) 242-1885 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PST, or they may also contact Costway for recall instructions by sending an email to email@example.com.
