Robots Are Taking Over the World…!!!
Er…Well they are taking over jobs that is…
I know… I know… we just posted three amazing resources on how to get hired so why are we talking about robots taking over the world?
Because it could be the future, so we want you to prepare for it!
We’ve all seen enough robot movies to instill amazement, wonder and a little fear in us…
Some of those movies can be creepy!
But the robots portrayed on the big screen aren’t necessarily the ones being produced to take over daily tasks as we know them…
Nor are they off in the future….We’ve had them already working in the medical field, in the services industry and more…
They just don’t look like iRobot, robots 😉
According to a recent Business Insider article, experts predict that one third of jobs will be replaced by robots in 2025…
That’s not too far off in the distance anymore!
Like we said, they are here – There’s a BakeBot robot whipping up fresh cookies at MIT; hospitals are now employing medical robots to assist their doctors…
And a robot named Baxter can beat any human at the popular logic game Connect Four, among many other tasks…
Yep. It is happening now, folks.
Also according to the article, “many people fear a jobless future — and their anxiety is not unwarranted” says Business Insider.
“Artificial intelligence and robots are not just challenging blue-collar jobs; they are starting to take over white-collar professions as well.”
While one camp of experts predict that several unlucky Americans will be pushed out of work in the near future, there’s another camp that argue that this increase in “computing prowess will simply eliminate old jobs and introduce new ones, resulting in a net-zero effect — or even an increase in jobs.”
Makes sense right? New technology = new products and services…Sounds like an era called the Industrial Revolution!
Experts are calling this movement the “Second Machine Age”… good movie title, eh?
The article highlights that “the machines of the Industrial Revolution overcame the limitations of human muscle, while the robots and artificial intelligence of today are overcoming the limitations of our individual minds.”
WHOA. 2025 ready or not, here we come!
