Phoenix officials are saying that an electrical current is to blame for the deaths of two brothers at a marina on Lake Pleasant over the weekend.
According to the article appearing on the Patch website, Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez with the Maricopa Sheriff’s Office told reporters that the Phoenix Fire Department received a call from the Scorpion Marina on Sunday, July 12th at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Timothy and his brother Michael Miller were administered CPR by witnesses when the first responders arrived at the scene. The two brothers and their wives had been at Lake Pleasant to enjoy a weekend of boating activities. Officials say that 53-year old Timothy Miller had gone into the water and immediately experienced some kind of electrical current. Immediately, his brother, 50-year old Michael, dove in after him and began to experience the same.
“One of the wives of the brothers jumps in, and she starts to experience the same thing,” Sgt. Enriquez said.
Good Samaritans who were on the scene were able to pull Michael from the lake. He was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
The body of Timothy Miller was found underneath a boat dock a short distance away from the tragic incident.
According to investigators with the Peoria Fire-Medical Department, it is believed that there were five people who were affected by the electrocution incident on Sunday. Boaters at the Scorpion Marina have access to power; however, investigators are uncertain whether something at the Marina or onboard the Miller’s boat may have caused the fatal accident.
