Authorities say that the fatal crash happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. In an attempt to avoid a collision in the area, the driver of a light-colored pickup truck that was hauling a flatbed trailer and traveling northbound on Highway 395 attempted to make a legal U-turn to travel southbound.
While executing the turn near Bear Valley Road and La Mesa Road, investigators say that a motorcyclist on a Honda Interceptor that was traveling northbound on Highway 395 collided with the side of the pickup truck. The motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle and onto the pavement.
Investigators say that the male motorcyclist died at the scene. His identity was not released at the time of the report.
The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the accident and remained at the scene of the crash. The driver was in full cooperation with Victorville Police Department officers.
Impairment by drugs or alcohol does not appear to have had any role in the fatal crash.
The accident is still under investigation. Anyone who has any further information about the accident is being asked to contact Deputy A. Hylin directly at (760) 241-2911.
