A morning crash in Phoenix involving a semi tractor-trailer rig and a passenger vehicle has left one person seriously injured
AZ Central reports that the crash happened on Wednesday, May 13th, near Broadway Road and 83rd Avenue at approximately 10:00 a.m.
According to a statement issued by Sgt. Calbert Gillett, a spokesperson for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to calls about the collision. They came upon the crash site involving an 18-wheeler and a sedan.

The Maricopa County Sherif’s Office and emergency crews from the Phoenix Fire Department were able to extricate the driver of the car from their vehicle. They were immediately transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. No further information about the driver was released at the time of the report, and their current condition is unknown.
No other injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
The Maricopa County Department of Transportation said via its Twitter account that both eastbound and westbound traffic on Broadway Road between 75th Avenue and 83rd Avenue was closed to traffic while the MCSO investigated the collision site.
The MCSO investigators also said that they are still looking into the cause of the crash. No citations have been issued so far.
