A Driver Turns Himself In After A Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash

Phoenix Police officers have found and arrested the suspect who is believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run crash in Phoenix earlier this month.

The AZ Family reported on its website that  Christepher Marion Crawford, 23, was arrested for having struck an unidentified pedestrian on Tuesday, March 3rd, at the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Culver Street.

Crawford was driving, and he approached the 43rd Avenue and Culver Street intersection, he hit a pedestrian. Crawford did not stop to wait for the police, nor did he call paramedics.

Phoenix Police officers later found the man lying in the roadway. Records indicate that the 32-year-old male victim died at the scene. The vehicle that had hit the victim did not stay at the scene until police arrived, making the fatal crash a hit-and-run.

The area of 43rd Avenue between Interstate 10 and McDowell was closed for several hours while police investigated the fatal crash.

According to a spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department, Crawford contacted police and admitted that he had been driving his Chevrolet Silverado on 43rd Avenue after exiting Interstate 10.  Crawford admitted not stopping at the scene as he was legally required to, and he told police that he had struck the victim with his vehicle before fleeing the scene.

Crawford later turned himself in to police and was arrested on the charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving serious injury or death.
