Teen Robbery Suspects Crash Stolen Car, Kill Elderly Woman

An elderly woman has died after her vehicle was hit by two teen robbery suspects in Southwest Houston on Thursday evening.

Fox affiliate KSAZ-TV in Phoenix reported that the fatal crash happened at approximately 4:00 p.m. when two teens, 15 and 16 years of age, entered a vehicle that had been reported stolen.  The two teens were observed by two undercover officers from the Phoenix Police Department when they got into the stolen vehicle and took off at a high rate of speed and blew through a stop sign.

The 15-year-old suspect led police on a chase. When the teen ran the stop sign, he struck another car being driven by a woman in her 60’s. Phoenix Police said in a statement to Fox News that the incident happened so quickly, they were unable to conduct any further investigation about the robbery.

The woman reportedly died at the scene of the crash. Her identity has not been released pending notification of family.

Police have arrested the 15-year-old on the charge of vehicular homicide.  The 16-year-old, who was a passenger at the time of the accident, is likely to be charged with a misdemeanor for participation in the incident.

Police say that both teens are facing multiple charges for other robberies in the area and are likely to be charged for those crimes in addition to those connected to the fatal crash on Thursday.
