According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an estimated 70,000 crashes each year are either directly caused by or are in some way connected to the use of cellphones while driving. Federal and state safety agencies now estimate that an estimated 14% of all fatal driving crashes involve a distracted driver using a cell phone, smartphone or other electronic devices with even more being seriously injured. When speed is added to the mix along with driver distraction, it can make a crash even worse.
