Tracy Morgan Lawsuit Finally Settles
June 2, 2015
Many fans of the famous (now ended) sitcom, 30 Rock, anxiously followed the news after beloved actor and comedian Tracy Morgan was involved in a trucking accident.
A Walmart tractor-trailer slammed into Morgan’s limousine on the New Jersey Turnpike, severely injuring the actor and killing a fellow comedian, Jimmy Mack.
That was almost a year ago. Last week Morgan has settled with the retailer and dropped his trucking accident lawsuit.
“Walmart did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families. I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably,” Morgan said in a statement Wednesday.
The terms and conditions of the deal with Morgan and two other passengers in the limo – Ardley Fuqua and Jeffrey Millea – were not made public.
Morgan sued Walmart after the June 7th trucking accident, alleging that the truck driver fell asleep at the wheel.
Morgan’s attorney argued that the retailer should not have let the trucker drive after he was awake for over 24 hours.
Although Walmart initially denied any claims, stating that the passengers in the limo, including Morgan were not wearing seatbelts and were thus responsible for their injuries, Walmart now admits fault.
“Walmart and I worked diligently to reach this settlement for the plaintiffs and their families,” Morgan’s attorney stated. “Walmart took full responsibility for the accident, which we greatly appreciate.”
This doesn’t happen often… especially not with Walmart.
But we will take this happy ending.
