Two People Die In A Motorcycle Accident On Indian School Road

A two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck in Phoenix claimed the lives of two people over the weekend.

AZ Central reports that according to a statement from Sgt. Tommy Thompson with the Phoenix Police Department, the fatal collision happened at approximately 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 26th, near the intersection of Indian School Road and 31st Avenue.

Investigators say that 30-year-old Jessie Andrade and his passenger, 34-year-old Aracely Arvizu-Hernandez were heading westbound on Indian School Road. As he approached the intersection of 31st Avenue with his 2012 Suzuki motorcycle, he switched from the inside lane to the middle lane of the road.   At the same time, a 25-year-old male driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck and a passenger were heading eastbound toward the same intersection.

As the light at the intersection changed from green to yellow, two additional vehicles, also heading westbound, stopped. Andrade ‘s motorcycle collided with the pickup truck in the middle of the intersection.

Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash. Andrade and Arvizu-Hernandez were rushed to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Authorities say that both died as a result of the injuries they sustained in the accident.

Investigators say that the driver of the pickup truck stayed at the scene of the accident and fully cooperated with the police. Impairment did not play a role in the accident. Neither the driver of the truck nor his passenger was injured.

The crash is still under investigation at this time. So far, no citations have been issued.
