Pickup Truck Hits Motorcyclist In Hit-And-Run Accident In Sierra Vista

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation (AZDOT), there were 15,0014 hit-and-run crashes in our state in 2017. Those crashes resulted in 64 fatalities and nearly 3,000 people injured. Arizona state law requires anyone who is involved in an accident to stop until they are released by law enforcement officers at the scene. According to Arizona Revised Statute (ARS) 28-663, it is also the duty of anyone involved in such an accident to give information and to render aid if necessary.
KVOA News 4 in Tucson reported about such a hit and run crash in Sierra Vista which left four people injured on Monday Afternoon. Sierra Vista Police said in a statement that the accident happened where Highway 90 and Highway 92 meet. An orange pickup truck struck a motorcyclist and several other vehicles at the intersection.
The Sierra Vista Police Department, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department, as well as units from Sierra Vista Fire and Medical Services, and Fry Fire District all responded to the accident. The roadway was shut down while investigators and emergency crews were at the scene.
Reports say that the motorcyclist was airlifted to Tucson while three others also injured in the crash were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Authorities have not updated their identities or condition.
Authorities say that the woman was arrested near the Ace Hardware store at 3756 E. Fry Boulevard near Avenida Escuela shortly after the accident.
