A Dangerous Roll Over Crash At An Intersection Leaves One Person Dead

A rollover crash carries a higher rate of injury or death than any other type of accident.  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), every year an estimated 35% of all fatal crashes are those involving a car, truck, or another type of vehicle that has rolled over.  Because of the nature of a rollover crash, those inside a vehicle can be ejected. An estimated 65% of the victims might have been saved if they had been wearing a seatbelt.

According to a report filed on the AZ Central website, one person has died after a crash involving two vehicles on Monday.

A spokesperson for the Phoenix Police Department, Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said in a statement that on Monday, June 29th, at approximately 4:00  a.m., officers responded to a crash that was reported at the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road.

An investigation revealed that the two-vehicle collision was caused when one of the cars was attempting to make a left turn from 83rd Avenue onto Thomas Road when it was T-boned by the second vehicle. The force of the impact caused the turning vehicle to roll over into the intersection.

The driver of the rolled vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.  At the time of the report, officials had not released the identity of the victim pending notification of family members.

There were no other injuries reported in connection to the crash.

The accident is currently under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
