Road Rage Incident Leads To Shooting

In the last few years, cases of road have increased on our roads and highways across the country. Whenever someone gets behind the wheel and acts out their aggression, it can become a potential danger for anyone else who happens to be in the vicinity at the time. According to a recent study by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, 80 percent of motorists in the United States expressed significant anger, aggression or road rage behind the wheel at least once in the past year.

ABC 15 reports that an incident that happened over the weekend on Interstate 17 near Cactus may have been such a case of road rage, according to troopers with the Department of Public Safety.

DPS officials say that the alleged road rage incident happened at about 8:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 2nd. Law enforcement dispatchers received a call from a driver saying that someone in another vehicle shot at his while he was traveling northbound on I-17.

The Arizona DOT sent out an alert via its Twitter account that the Cactus Road off-ramp had been closed following the reported incident. DPS officers arrived on the scene to further interview the driver who made the report.

The incident is still currently under investigation and so far no arrests have been made.
