I-10 Shooter In Phoenix

Driving on the road is stressful enough what with traffic, on site construction and not to mention all of the interesting drivers…
And now, for the past week, there has been a crazy I-10 shooter on the loose, taking aim at Phoenix drivers on the busy highways of I-10 and other Arizona locations.
With the I-10 shooter on the loose, there’s one group of civilians that will not be sitting around waiting for the authorities to find the suspect.
This group of Arizonans call themselves “Bolt Force” and their mission is to help the authorities solve a rash of shootings along a busy stretch of Interstate 10 in downtown Phoenix and elsewhere in the Arizona capital.
Armed with guns, knives, mace and other weapons, they are no such group to mess with.
Why the name “Bolt Force?”
That’s simple: The founder goes by one name, Bolt, for security reasons, he says. CNN’s Sara Sidner and Ray Sanchez are told he jokingly calls the group “guardian angels on steroids.”
Authorities believe some of the shootings may be the work of copycats. Two additional shootings along roadways elsewhere in the capital late Thursday morning could be someone trying to emulate the earlier shootings.
On Friday, police were looking at another report of shots fired, this time on I-17, reported CNN affiliate KNXV.
Although a man was being questioned in connection with the spate of shootings on Friday, there were no ties with the current shooting as of recent.
Police confirmed that Oscar De La Torre was not a prime suspect in the shootings (although he was booked on other charges of drug possession).
The police have also confirmed that they have been receiving a lot of tips and leads from the public which led to Torre’s arrest and perhaps a little closer to the actual suspect.
The latest incidents are being investigated as separate shootings despite being copycats. Police say that although shooters are mimicking the acts of violence, the suspects may not be working together.
Some incidents are being reported as involved the firing of bullets, while other incidents involve pellets. One shooting was described as a road-rage incident.
Regardless, one group wants to help and that group is Bolt Force!
As of recent, no civilian has died because of these shootings and Bolt and his force want to keep it that way….
“We’re out here to prevent someone from getting killed or hurt seriously,” Bolt, who says he founded the group five years ago, told CNN correspondents. “We’ve been fortunate so far … it’s only a matter of time.”
The volunteers are mainly comprised of military veterans, bounty hunters and former law enforcement officers – a group not unfamiliar with violence.
A modern day, real life Superbad group or Dexter Team, these crime fighters say they are usually on foot patrol in areas where crime is high and so is the risk of their own lives as this job is on a volunteer basis only – no retirement plan included!
All of the members have other day jobs but are in communication with the police should the alarm need sounding….
While some people praise the effort others, such as active law enforcement officers and the capital’s mayor, worry that group members could be mistaken for snipers.
“We are not vigilantes,” Bolt said. “We’re an armed volunteer crime-fighting force. But we do not go above the law.”
What do you all think about Bolt Force? Modern Day Crime Fighters or Just Plain Crazy?
