Devastating Mesa Area Shooting

Wednesday afternoon Police captured a suspect wanted in connection with a series of shootings in Mesa that Wednesday morning leaving one person dead and five others severely injured.
Multiple police sources confirmed to local Phoenix and Mesa news networks on Wednesday at 12:45 p.m. that the suspect had been taken into custody at an apartment complex near 8th Avenue and Dobson Road.
The suspect has been identified as one 41-year-old neo-Nazi skinhead named Ryan Elliot Giroux with a long prison record, police and human rights activists. Giroux, whose identity Mesa police confirmed Wednesday night, has done several stretches in Arizona prisons for a variety of crimes, including assault, burglary and theft.
He also ran up a list of violations while in prison. Records indicate that Giroux’s last sentence ended in 2013, wherein he was released from parole supervision in October of last year.
Many of the tattoos on Giroux’s face and torso were identified and associated with neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups. Specifically, the number 88 on his left temple is neo-Nazi code for “Heil Hitler,” since H is the eighth letter of the alphabet.Giroux wasalso identified as being a part of a skinhead group called Hammerskin Nation.
Mesa police received an initial shooting call around 8:30 a.m. at the Tri City Motel near Alma School and Main Street, then began receiving multiple additional calls for shootings in the surrounding area.
According to Mesa police, Giroux shot three people at the motel, then went to The Bistro restaurant, where he shot a fourth victim and stole a getaway car.
Giroux then fled to the Sorrento apartment complex at Dobson and Emelita, where he broke into an apartment and shot a fifth victim. This last victim is expected to survive his injuries but there is no report on the other wounded victims.
Giroux is believed to have acted alone and specific motive.
