Well… almost!   The tantalizing, R-rated movie debuted on Friday and is said to be the top grossing movie of 2015 but not without a few critics!

Motorists driving through Sacramento, California  during the Presidents’ Day holiday weekend got an unexpected surprise as “50 Shades of Grey” could clearly be seen and heard from a highway as it played at a nearby drive-in movie theater.

The highly publicized book-turned-film received the R rating for its language and strong sexual content, including dialogue, some unusual behavior and graphic nudity, according to the Internet Movie Database.

It didn’t take long for some of that not so savory content to reach the eyes of unsuspecting motorists who were…well… minding their own business, eyes on the road…but not for long….

A local newsroom was bombarded with complaints on Sunday about graphic images being visible from Highway 50, located near the WestWind All Digital Drive-in theater, which has six screens that span thousands of square feet each.

“I’d think it’s a safety issue; people trying to sneak a peek as they are going 70 miles down the freeway and looking not where they are supposed to be going, but looking at the movie,” one Sacramento native explained.

Other locals were mainly concerned about the graphic content being openly visible to their children at the drive in theater.

A Sacramento mom was more concerned about keeping things PG for her young son and his friends. With a drive-in theater, having a peak at any movie can be easy to do for wandering eyes.

“I mean we came here to celebrate my son’s birthday and he’s only ten…It’s hard enough to regulate things with children.”

The theater’s manager told the local news station she wasn’t sure what the policy was regarding sexual content on their screen but that they were looking into policies.

Whether you’ve seen the new and arguably “popular” film, it’s safe to say that those driving should have their eyes on the road and not on the movie screen!
