Hello teachers! Oh my goodness we are just a few days away from the big day and we are so excited to see all of you!
The school supply giveaway is THIS Saturday, August 10th and I wanted to re-share all of the FAQ’s with you plus some additional information so please be sure to read through entirely!
If you are unsure if you registered and rsvp’d correctly, scroll to the bottom of this past for the list of attendees!
Date: Saturday, August 10th
Parking: Roadhouse Cinemas: 4811 E Grant Rd #150
NOTE: the first shuttle will depart the RoadHouse Cinemas at 7:00am and the last shuttle will depart RoadHouse Cinemas at 9:00am. Therefore, you must arrive and be on the shuttle no later than 9:00am to catch the short ride over to our office. The shuttles will run back and forth the entire event, therefore, you do not have to stay the entire time! You can hop on a shuttle to head back to your vehicle whenever you’d like! The last shuttle will depart the Zanes Law office at 9:45am.
The entire Zanes Law parking lot will be used for the school supply giveaway, therefore, parking will NOT be available at our office on Grant Road!
The only vehicles that are permitted to enter/exit the Zanes parking lot are the shuttles!
If you do not want to use the provided shuttle service you may park elsewhere like surrounding neighborhoods/shopping centers and walk over, however, we DO NOT have permission and we are not responsible for towing, etc! Event Location: Zanes Law Office- 4580 E. Grant Road.
If you are injured and cannot use the shuttle/bus service we have permission to use the parking lot at Pomgratz Orthotics located at: 4520 E. Grant Road (three buildings West of our office). There is very limited parking here (about 10 spots) so please do not park here unless you cannot use the shuttle service. Note: National Eye & Ear is right next door to Pomgratz and they are open on Saturdays- we DO NOT have permission to use their lot.
Organization we are partnering with this year: As always we partner with local organization to maximize our efforts as a community! This year we are partnering with Casa Maria Catholic Worker Community once again! The items collected last year made such a big impact- we are happy to partner with them again this year!
This local Tucson organization helps those in desperate need of food and hygiene products. Please, please, please take a minute to look through your kitchen or swing by the store! Our goal is to collect 1,000 items! If everyone brings 2 items we will surpass this! Everything counts even just one canned item!
Needed items include:
-Non-Perishable food items
-Used or new blankets, jackets, sweaters for the upcoming cold months!
Please note: we usually suggest you bring a rolling carrying cart to help with the supplies, however, we are asking that you do not bring rolling carrying cases/carts. Because parking is off-site and we will be using a shuttle service, it is not realistic to bring a large rolling cart onto a shuttle. 1. There will not be enough room on the shuttle and 2. Loading and unloading a rolling carrying case up and down shuttle stairs is dangerous. Instead, we recommend bringing another large tote that can help distribute the weight of the supplies. Thank you for understanding!
Frequently Asked Questions:
This will be my first year attending…. Is this real? What’s the catch? Yes, this is real! The morning of Saturday, August 10th, you will check-in, get in line, and pick up free school supplies! We do ask you to check-in at Zanes Law and tag Zanes Law on Facebook if you have one! Post a selfie with friends or let us know on Facebook that you are here. Our team LOVES to scroll through our Facebook page and see all of your comments and photos- especially the Monday after the event!
Do I need to bring anything? Yes, please bring your ID to check in and another carrying case such as a bag. You will be given a tote to collect your supplies, however, the bags do get heavy so having an extra tote to help distribute the weight is recommended! Rolling cases are not recommended this year. See above for more information.
We highly recommend leaving coffee, snacks, etc inside your car. You will be carrying a lot of supplies with your totes and juggling a coffee or smoothie makes it very difficult to carry everything! A beverage with a lid that you can put inside your tote is the best option here! Don’t say I didn’t warn you! 😉
What type of supplies will be given out? Copy paper, lined paper, notebooks, pencils, crayons, markers, tissues, glue, construction paper, etc! We thoroughly review your applications to ensure we provide the most needed supplies!
Should I still go shopping for supplies or will this giveaway stock up my classroom? Each teacher will receive a generous amount of supplies, however, in no way should you rely on this giveaway to stock your classroom! Shop per usual and use these as a bonus!
Will there be enough supplies for everyone? Of course! We plan the amount of purchased supplies based off of our headcount. Every teacher will receive the same amount of supplies unless they choose to participate in other activities where they can win additional items! This is why the RSVP process and headcount Is SO important!! 🙂
Can I bring friends and family to the event? Please limit your personal guests to 1. Since we are using a shuttle service, limiting the amount of guests will ensure the flow of teachers is efficient. And of course, as a courtesy to our registered teachers, your personal guests cannot collect school supplies unless they have submitted an application and are on the “registration list”.
I do not have a baby sitter and I have to bring more than 1 person to the event- is that okay? Yes, of course! If possible please limit to 1 person but we understand this is not always possible.
Do I have to attend the event to collect my supplies or can I pick them up another time? Yes, you must be present the day of the event to collect your supplies. All left over supplies will be donated and may not be picked up after the event.
Uh oh! My friend had an emergency- can I collect supplies for a teacher friend who is on the list, but cannot make it? Yes, however, you must collect your items first and re-register under your friend’s name and get back in line. As a courtesy to our teachers we want the line to move as quickly as possible. Collecting supplies for more than one person slows the line down. It’s hot outside and we have to keep the line moving!
How long is the giveaway? You may attend anytime between 7:00am-9:00am. It should take no longer than 30 minutes to collect your supplies; however, many teachers stay longer to enjoy each other’s company!
Water/bathrooms- Our new office does NOT have public bathrooms/water fountains available for use. Please bring bottled water with a lid for your personal use.
Oh no! I cannot make it anymore- what should I do? If you can no longer attend the giveaway you can absolutely have someone pick up on your behalf! Just make sure they have all of this information so they know where to park, etc! If you do not have someone to pick up on your behalf PLEASE let me know so I can remove your name and invite someone off of the waiting list. For every no-show at the event, a teacher in need is unable to collect supplies.
As a courtesy to other teachers and Zanes Law please DO NOT NO-SHOW. Thank you for understanding!!
Alright! That should answer all of your questions!
